26th of January 2007 I was rushed to hospital after calling the labour ward on numerous occasions on the 24th, 25th & 26th January '07, Finally someone listened to me & realised something was wrong. I felt no movement from Harvey, They told me this was probably as he was getting to big........
Harvey was in serious trouble, My placenta had given up
at 41 weeks & 3 days (overdue).
I was told to expect Harvey to be still born. You can imagine as I lay there getting ready for a C section, I was so scared & and so upset that I had waited 9 months to meet our baby boy and being told he would most probably be a still born baby.....
Well Harvey was born at 6:56 pm not breathing and as I am told from my husband, He was blue.
I could see all the Drs faces it wasn't good...., They managed to revive Harvey he was having seizures which they couldn't stop. I finally got to see Harvey about 10pm I thought this was going to be my 1st and last time, I was still in shock and to this day just seems a blur and a horrible nightmare.....
To the Drs amazement Harvey stopped fitting but had to be transferred to another hospital to the intensive care unit as he was still a very sick baby. They were not holding out much hope for Harvey they told us all of his vital organs were enlarged and his heart was the size of his chest and may require a heart operation. Well this is where our little fighter began his fight for life.....
2 weeks later after being on life support and cpap things began to look up. He was taken off and only required a little oxygen to breath on his own and his organs had returned to a normal size. We were then dealt some devastating news Harvey had suffered severe brain damage. We were told he would never eat or drink on his own and would have to be tube fed, and never sit, walk, talk or even look at me. I was in a different world, I couldn't take this in, I had my husband Jimmy with me who was so much stronger than i was, without him I wouldn't of ever got through this.
Well 2 weeks later guess what??? Harvey had his 1st bottle of milk and over the next 2 weeks carried on drinking well what an amazement!!!. Before we knew it the tube came out and we were going home for the first time with our son, This was the happiest day of our lives.........
This has been a long and hard 3 years but Harvey has fought the whole way and never given up his courage and determination has made him who he is and we are so proud of him. As you can see from the home page how well he is doing now and the stem cell treatment is not a cure but has been a massive improvement to Harveys life.. Please Help us to get him back to Germany...
